Out of four Chinese massage parlors of the municipality Rijswijk, a neighboring municipality of The Hague, there is currently still one salon open.
1 massage parlor has permanently closed its doors and the 2 others have to close for half a year.
It is still questionable whether the only remaining massage salon remains open for long.
This is a result of the new policy of the municipality Rijswijk since half a year, against the potential overflow of Chinese massage parlors from The Hague.
Since January 1, there is a cooperation between Rijswijk and The Hague, using the expertise of a dedicated team from The Hague, now expanded with 5 persons.
The two municipalities want to use each other’s expertise to deal with the “issues” surrounding the massage parlors.
According to an officer of the municipality Rijswijk, there are examples of trafficking and exploitation in this industry, but so far they can not prove this.
Both the municipality Rijswijk and The Hague speak about ‘massage parlors’ but deliberately avoided the term “Chinese massage salon”, while widely known that the raids and control programs focus almost exclusively on Chinese massage parlors.
It is remarkable that the Thai massage parlors in this region apparently left untouched.
