Massageboulevard The Hague
On the ‘Rijswijkseweg,’ a street in the city of The Hague and followed by the ‘Haagweg’ a street in adjacent ‘Rijswijk’ there are now 13 Chinese and Thai massage parlors located.
As well as ‘Amsterdamsestraatweg’ in the city of Utrecht this area is also called the ‘Massage Boulevard’.
This street runs from ‘Rijswijkseplein’ in The Hague to adjacent ‘Haagweg’ in Rijswijk. Formerly a major exit road in the direction of Utrecht and Rotterdam, but today is still accessible from outside the city.
The last few years a large number of Chinese and Thai massage parlors have established them self in vacant shops and businesses.
Generally, these massage parlors are small, with an average of 3 or 4 masseuse’s Chinese or Thai origin employed.
There is along or around Rijswijkseweg usually sufficient (unpaid) parking.
The explosive growth, especially in the number of Chinese massage parlors is a problem for the Municipality of The Hague by Mayor van Aartsen, especially since there are indications that illegal sexual services were offered in some massage parlors.
Where it previously was possible to start a massage parlor without an establishment license, has the government of The Hague putted a stop here for now, by change the zoning for some areas.
This means that there may be currently no massage or beauty salons established on the ‘Rijswijkseweg’ unless an explicit authorization is given.
In addition, regular checks are carried out using the NFI (Dutch Forensic Institute) who search the massage parlors in sperm tracks.
It has meant that there are currently six massage parlors at Rijswijkseweg have closed their doors, ordered by the municipality for a period of six months.
Through this policy, from the original 19 massage parlors on this street remain about 13 now.
Some of the closed massage parlors have now settled in neighbouring towns like Voorburg and Rijswijk.
